Make Your Dallas Home Cleaning Checklist Super Easy
Who has time for weekly cleaning? Follow this 12 step Dallas home cleaning checklist and simplify your life. Plus, get a free quote from a Dallas maid service!
Dallas residents have the 3rd worst work-life balance in America. We spend almost an hour on daily commutes, 8-10 hours at work, and then have a house full of people to care for at night. You don't have time for a complicated Dallas home cleaning checklist.
That's okay — neither do your neighbors, and neither do we. You don't need a 10-hour weekly cleaning routine full of deep cleaning tasks. It's worth hiring a Dallas maid service for that — on average, house cleaning services save homeowners 4-5 hours per week.
You needa simple, effective Dallas home cleaning checklist that delivers a clean home with minimal effort and low stress.
HOMR collected service data from the 132 residential cleaning service projects we managed last year. We also polled 1,000 North Texas homeowners about their top priorities and “problem areas'' for maintaining a clean home.
We used that information to build a simple 12 step house cleaning checklist for Dallas homeowners. Even better — you only have to do 3 steps at a time!

Why Is It So Hard to Keep a Dallas Home Clean?
The American Lung Association lists Dallas as the 16th most polluted city in America. The average Texan spends 90% of their time indoors, so that doesn't seem like it's an issue.
But it's difficult to keep all those pollutants outside our front doors. A combination of 4 culprits makes it difficult to keep our Dallas area homes clean:
Dust. It was bad enough when Dallas residents got hit with dust from West Texas — and now it's coming from theSahara Desert? Dust is a consistent pest in DFW, and removing it from fans, baseboards, window sills and counters is a priority.
Wind. Dust wouldn't be such a huge problem if Dallas wasn't so windy. Dallas sits between two large air masses that create strong gusts throughout the year (especially in the spring). The surrounding area is heavily prone to tornadoes from April to June. Combine all that strong Dallas wind with dust in the air, and it's bound to enter your home.
Particle Pollution. The American Lung Association also noted a rise in particle pollution in North Dallas. There isn't much you can do to keep these particles out when you open a door, window or vent. As long as you engage in regular cleaning, they won't cause an issue.
Clay-Based Dirt. North Texas soil has an extremely high clay content. Our dirt shifts easily, and it doesn't take much for it to come up and stick to our shoes, clothes and other surfaces. Tracking clay soil into your Dallas home is going to happen — you need a simple cleaning strategy to eliminate it.
3 Quick Daily Cleaning Tasks
Got 9 minutes? Then you can handle this short daily checklist — each cleaning task takes under 3 minutes to complete.
Kitchen Surfaces
Wipe down countertops, stovetops, and sinks to eliminate lingering food particles and tackle any remnants left behind.
Bathroom Surfaces
Keep your bathroom sparkling. Clean mirror, countertops, sinks, and toilets daily to combat bacterial and mold growth.
High-Touch Surfaces (and High-Traffic Areas)
Take a few moments to disinfect frequently touched surfaces like door knobs, handles, light switches, and remote controls.
3 Weekly Cleaning Jobs You Can't Skip
Dusting
Show some love to your furniture, shelves, ceiling fan and electronics by giving them a good dusting, keeping your home clean and ready to host friends and family. Make sure to dust ceiling fan blades thoroughly — don't neglect the tops of the blades!
Floors
Vacuum carpets and sweep or mop hardwood or tile floors to bid farewell to dirt and dust that may have blown in from outside.
Bedding
Your bedroom should be a peaceful retreat, so be sure to give it a regular cleaning. Enjoy a restful sleep by changing and washing your bed linens weekly, creating a comfortable bedroom free of allergens, dust and mites.

3 Steps to Flawless Monthly Home Cleaning
Windows
Clean your windows and window sills once a month to eliminate the buildup of dust, debris and other residue. Upgrade this chore to twice per month during the summer when you'll keep windows open more often.
Light Fixtures
Dust and wipe light fixtures and ceiling fans clean of dust and pollen that's accumulated over time.
Appliances
Give your appliances some extra attention by cleaning their interiors and exteriors. Clean the interior and exterior of each of the following appliances on a monthly basis:
Stove and range
Refrigerator
Microwave
Blender
Washer and dryer
Shower and tub
Also, change your vaccuum's bag or canister (if necessary) at this time.
HOMR Pro Tip: Just because you use an appliance to clean things doesn't automatically make it clean! Take the time to scrub your laundry room and shower areas well — your clothes (and your body) will thank you!
3 Seasonal Tips Straight From Our Cleaning Team
Rug and Carpet Cleaning
Combat the effects of outdoor activities by treating your carpets to a thorough cleaning, removing any stubborn dirt or stains that may have accumulated.
Upholstery Cleaning
Refresh your upholstery and curtains seasonally, eliminating dust, pollen, and allergens, creating a clean and cozy atmosphere.
Change Air Filters
Switch out the air filters everywhere in your home at least 4 times per year to remove dust, pollen and particle pollution from your home. Don't just blow old air filters out — they aren't nearly as effective afterwards.
NOTE: If you live with people with elevated health risks or respiratory issues, change your home's air filters once a month.
